Exercise Science (Pre-AT) major

The exercise science (pre-AT) major is for students interested in becoming athletic trainers. Nebraska Wesleyan University’s athletic training program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) which requires a Master of Athletic Training (MAT) to become a certified athletic trainer.

3+2 bachelor and master degree program

At NWU, students can earn both a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and a Master of Athletic Training in just five years. Pre-AT students apply for admission to the Master of Athletic Training program in their junior year. Accepted students complete their graduate courses in their fourth and fifth years. Graduating MAT students then take the Board of Certification (BOC) exam before becoming certified athletic trainers. NWU's rigorous coursework, training and support make students more than prepared to pass the BOC exam.
